"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we GIVE". - Winston Churchill
What does giving mean to me?
Everyone "gives" in different ways; time, money, pleasure, obligation....
The Miss America Organization is based on the four points of the crown...Style, Scholarship, Success and Service. While all four points are extremely important, Service has been a big part of my life.
I have always given my time to many organizations, even before my involvement in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization. I have served my Church during Lent by working the Fish Fry's, The Washington Kiwanis Club by serving breakfast during the Holidays to families, I've collected over 400 items for the Woman's Center and Shelter and raised over $400 for medical expenses a family whose child was suffering with cancer. My latest giving adventure was collecting over 35 Prom gowns for high schools girls at Wesley Spectrum's High School, who otherwise could not afford them.
The feeling you get when you "give", in whatever way you can, is indescribable. I've made it a priority in my life to give back to my community in anyway I can. The rewards and relationships I've built thus far in my short 15 years, are extremely valuable to me. I will carry them throughout my life. I tryly feel blessed by all these opportunities I have been given.
