Yesterday my Mom and I attended the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This was my first year and I had such a great time volunteering...I was at one of the sponsor booths handing out "power bars" and also handing out water at the Finish Line!
This is the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer ever created. Over 20,000 people were expected to attend! It celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
More than 40,000 women and more than 440 men in the United States will die of the disease this year, according to Komen. One in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime, the group reported.
I was glad to be a part of something so powerful - even for just one day.
